Code Words of Conductors per Different Standards

Hotlink team has received some many inquiries with inquiring the suitable splices / connectors for conductors identified as only a Code Name. We believe it’s necessary to explain the difference between the Code Name identified on different standards.

Per ASTM 232/B 232M – 09, the code names apply to Class AA Bare Aluminum Conductors, Steel Reinforced (ACSR), but not apply to Class A.

The Code Names of the conductors being fit with for Hotlink Automatic Splices are Swan, Swanate, Sparrow, Sparate, Grouse, Robin, Petrel, Raven, Minorca, Quail, Leghorn, Guinea, Pigeon, Dotterel, Dorking, Brahma, Cochin, Penguin, Waxwing, Partridge, Ostrich, Merlin, Linnet, Oriole, Chickadee, Brant, Ibis, Lark, Pelican, Flicker, Hawk, Hen. Per BS215 part2, the Code Names of the conductors being fit with for Hotlink Automatic Splices are SQUIRREL, GOPHEL, WEASEL, FOX, RABBIT, MINIK, BEAVER, HORSE, RACOON, OTTER, CAT, DOG, COUGAR, WOLF, DINGO, CARACAL, JAGUAR, LION.

On DIN48204, the conductors are identified with Nominal Cross Section Area and numbers of Strands, but not Code Names.
